“The new year stands before us, like a chapter in a book, waiting to be written.” Melody Beattie

As the new year looms, we’ve been reflecting on what we’ll write in our next chapter. 2019 is sure to be an exciting year full of friends, family and bikes! This year, we’re committing to a few resolutions that may seem simple at first glance. Our resolutions are to live in the moment, find joy in the everyday and adventure more. We aim to live by these resolutions everyday but in 2019, we feel it’s time to refocus on these ideas.

Living in the moment.

Does it feel like life is passing you by too quickly? Your kids are somehow all grown up or you find you’re counting work anniversaries in decades rather than years? It’s so easy to settle into the grind and forget that each and every moment is part of your life and it is worth living to the fullest extent. We’re frequently surprised that it’s “already the weekend” or “already the first day of school” so we’ve decided to live more fully in the moment. To be thankful for each trip to the grocery store, each family dinner and each bike ride. We’re even going to be thankful for each Monday morning. Hopefully taking the time to be thankful will allow us to be more present and live more fully in each moment.

Finding joy in the everyday.

It’s raining again. The power company lost our check. I spilled my coffee at work. I got another flat on my ride. Getting bogged down with the little mishaps that frequently dot our daily lives is too easy. It’s much harder to stop and laugh and let these things roll of your back. We’ve resolving to not sweat the small things. To instead find the joy and the love in our lives. Focusing on these things will hopefully allow us to share the joy and love with others.

Adventuring more.

It’s no surprise that we love adventure. Adventure lies at the very foundation of our business model. Beyond business, we love to adventure in our everyday lives. Our aim as we write our next chapter, is to make each day an adventure. Our soccer games and business meetings, while all droll and mundane, can be adventurous if we let them. Or we can look at this resolution from a different perspective. Maybe we can try to make more time for adventure. Let’s put down the vacuum and go for a bike ride. Let’s put that email on hold and go for a hike. Adventure awaits!

What are your resolutions?
