Day 1

Arrival in Beaune – Gateway to Burgundy’s Wine Country

Welcome to the heart of Burgundy! Upon your arrival at the Beaune train station, we’ll greet you and take you to your first hotel, a charming 4-star stay within the historic walled city. This evening, our local guide will meet you to ensure a perfect fit for your rental bike, setting you up for a smooth and comfortable ride. Afterward, take a leisurely stroll through Beaune’s cobbled streets, soaking in the ambiance of this enchanting town. The evening is yours to explore—find a cozy café or an authentic French bistro to enjoy your first taste of Burgundy’s legendary cuisine.

Day 2

Beaune Loop Ride – Rolling Through World-Class Vineyards (30km+/20mi+)

Ease into your Burgundy cycling adventure with a scenic loop ride showcasing the famous Route des Grands Crus. This rolling route takes you through Pommard, Volnay, Meursault, and Puligny-Montrachet—legendary wine-producing villages that any wine lover will recognize. Stop along the way to admire the sun-drenched vineyards, sip a glass of Chardonnay, or take in the stunning countryside. If you’re up for a bit more adventure, you can extend your ride by an additional 20km. This evening, relax and discover more of Beaune at your own pace, choosing from its many excellent restaurants for dinner.

Day 3

Beaune to Dijon – A Ride Through Burgundy’s Wine Capital (40km/25mi+)

Today’s ride is an absolute highlight as you cycle north toward Dijon, passing through Nuits-Saint-Georges, one of Burgundy’s most revered wine towns. Stop for a leisurely lunch at a vineyard estate or a local café before continuing your journey through the stunning Côte de Nuits wine region. As you arrive in Dijon, settle into your centrally located hotel, just steps away from the city’s architectural wonders and vibrant culinary scene. Tonight, a delicious dinner is included at the hotel, offering a taste of Dijon’s famous gastronomic traditions.

Day 4

Discover Dijon – Culture, Cuisine & Cycling (30km+/20mi+)

Spend the day exploring Dijon, a city known for its rich history, bustling markets, and world-class cuisine. Wander through the charming medieval streets, visit the Palace of the Dukes of Burgundy, and indulge in authentic mustard tastings or a local wine experience. If you’re looking to get back in the saddle, we’ve designed a beautiful loop ride through the surrounding countryside, offering a mix of scenic vineyards and quiet village roads. With the evening free, take your time selecting the perfect restaurant to cap off your Burgundy adventure with an unforgettable meal.

Day 5

Departure – A Farewell to Burgundy

Enjoy a relaxed morning in Dijon, perhaps with a café au lait at a sidewalk café before we transfer you back to the train station for your onward journey. Whether you’re heading to Paris, Provence, or beyond, you’ll leave Burgundy with memories of breathtaking rides, world-class wines, and the perfect blend of adventure and relaxation.

  • All hotel accommodations – mostly 3 and 4 star but ask for custom accommodation requests.
  • An OBT cycling jersey!
  • Detailed route notes, maps, and tourist information. This includes standard cue sheet, and RideWithGPS routes to upload to your own GPS device or use the RideWithGPS app.
  • Luggage transfers from hotel to hotel.
  • Meals as explained in the tour itinerary pages. Usually this means all breakfasts, no lunches, and some dinners.
  • Access to your personal guide/concierge (See Guides/Concierge tab).

 

WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED:

  • Transportation to start location and from finish location.
  • Bikes, but we have rental bikes available.
  • Travel and Health Insurance.
  • Admission to sightseeing venues, unless explicitly mentioned as included.
We work with only local guides, cooperating with those that have a love for cycling, and a desire to show guests the beauty of the land they call home. On our self guided tours we do not bring in guides from other destination to work with you. Having the local perspective only enhances your experience, providing insider knowledge and opportunities that only a local resident can offer. From greeting guests when they arrive, to personally handling luggage transfers, to curating excursions, to problem-solving (e.g., flat tires and other unforeseen issues) our concierges assist guests daily. They also set you up on your rental bikes, and can help with routing and simple questions. Need help finding a good lunch spot? Is it raining too hard or you’re too tired to continue? The concierge is a phone call away and are there to help you! Each tour group works with a single, dedicated concierge who can be called upon for in-person assistance at any time.

Registration: Once you are ready to register, please click on the “Book Now” above and complete the registration form. EACH tour participant will need to be included in the registration. At the end of the registration for you will be asked for a US$1,000 deposit. Once we have all registrations, we will secure all of the details of your tour – hotels, bikes, etc.

Final Payment: All payments are due 60 days prior to your tour.

Tour Packet Delivery: Once the balance is paid and approximately 30 days before your tour, we will send you a complete tour packet containing all details of your tour – accommodation information, detailed routing, a suggested packing list, maps, tourist guide, and much more! With your OBT tour you will be provided with a library of routes to be used throughout your day to day rides. Some days may have multiple ride options!
