  • Best time to visit: May and June as well as September and October for sunny, mild weather and fewer crowds. It can get HOT in Tuscany during July and August, but if you’re accustomed to heat, it may be perfect for you.

  • Sites not to miss: Florence’s Duomo, Siena’s Piazza del Campo, San Gimignano’s towers, Chianti’s vineyard roads, and the Val d’Orcia (UNESCO World Heritage).

  • Blooming season: Poppies in May, sunflowers in late June and into July, vineyard harvest in September.
