2015 will be OBT’s 15th year of leading Tour de France bike tours. Come join us for another year of amazing riding and racing!

Have you dreamt of riding the same route as the pros in the Tour de France?  If so, we have the perfect bicycle vacation for you!

  • On our 10-day/9-night tour, you will not only ride the same epic roads as the pros–you will also witness up to 6 stages. And you will be around the pros during their Rest Day!
  • Begin in Gap, follow the race through the Alps and then finish in beautiful Paris.
  • Hotels (located in prime locations for race viewing), all breakfasts, most dinners, all luggage transfers, road support, and detailed route notes, maps and GPS courses are included.
  • All of our hotels are 3 star or better and are located in prime locations for race viewing. All breakfasts and most dinners are included. The food is delicious and the views stunning.
  • Also included: an OBT cycling jersey, and a Tour Photo Book using photos from our tour.

Itinerary for our 2015 Tour de France Tour – 10 Night:

Day 1: July 18th – Saturday – Arrive in Gap/Embrun
We will be staying in a quaint village near Gap.  After your arrival at the Gap train station, we will pick you up for the short transfer to the hotel.  Just let us know when you will be arriving and we will be there with a van to pick you up.  Our welcome dinner is at the hotel after a meet-and-greet meeting.

Day 2: July 19th – Sunday – Warm-up Ride around Gap/Embrun
Wake up in the French Alps ready for a warm-up ride! We will have tools and work stands to help you build up your bikes. If you have a rental bike we will fit you to your steed.  In the afternoon enjoy a warm-up ride in the surrounding mountains.  Dinner is at the hotel tonight.

Day 3: July 20st – Monday – Gap Stage Finish
Watch stage 16 finish in Gap!  After an opportunity to ride in the morning around the area, we’ll find the perfect spot to watch the stage finish in Gap.  Dinner is included at the hotel tonight.

Day 4: July 21nd – Tuesday – Rest Day in Gap & Transfer to Alpe d’Huez
A rest day presents an unique opportunity to connect with the riders as they relax and enjoy the day.  We’ll visit team hotels, and time our daily ride to coincide with the pros short Rest Day warmup ride. After your ride we will transfer to Alpe d’Huez, where you have the option to ride or van up to the hotel.  Dinner is on your own in Alpe d’Huez.

Day 5: July 22rd – Wednesday – Options day!  Pra Loup Stage Finish & Transfer to La Grave
You can stay local and test your legs on Alpe d’Huez, Col de Serenne, and Les Deux Alpes, or you can witness the stage finish at the Pra Loup ski station!  We can van to Pra Loup if there is interest.  At the end of the day we’ll head to our next hotel where dinner is included.

Day 6: July 23th – Thursday – Stage Viewing & Area Climbing – La Grave/Alps
There will be several riding options today, including the Galibier, Les Deux Alpes, Col d’Ornon, and Col du Glandon.  The stage will pass over the Col de la Morte and Col du Glandon, giving us a great stage viewing opportunity.  Dinner is included at the hotel tonight.

Day 7: July 24th – Friday – Stage Viewing & Area Climbing – La Grave/Alps
We have an opportunity to climb the Galibier and Telegraphe to watch today’s stage. Alternately, we can climb the Glandon to see the stage. Dinner is included at the hotel tonight.

Day 8: July 25th – Saturday – Alpe d’Huez Stage! – La Grave/Alps
An absolute epic day for the pros as well as you.  Get up the mountain early, party with the campers and fans from around the world, and then cheer your favorite pros.  We will coordinate transport back the short distance to the hotel from the base of the mountain.  Dinner is at the hotel.

Day 9: July 26th – Sunday – Paris & Final Stage Viewing
Today we transfer to Paris.  A morning departure will put you on the Champs Elysees in enough time to see the pros ride into town for the final stage!  Train tickets are included in your tour fee.  Make sure you wait for the parade of teams and podium ceremony after the stage finish.  Afterwards, walk past the Arc de Triomphe to our hotel. Our hotel is used as a team hotel, so rub shoulders with the teams in the lobby. Dinner is on your own in Paris.

Day 10: July 27th
Departure day!  Transportation to the airport is easy from our hotel.  Or stay in Paris for a few days.  Bon voyage!  We hope you enjoyed your tour with Outfitter Bicycle Tours!

What is included:

  • All hotel accommodations.
  • Luggage transfers from hotel to hotel.
  • OBT cycling jersey!
  • Tour photo book, using shared photos you take during your tour.
  • Meals as explained in the tour itinerary pages above.  Usually this means all breakfasts, no lunches, and some dinners.
  • Detailed route notes, maps, and tourist information.
  • Outstanding routing instructions for all rides!  This includes GPS course downloads for your GPS unit, traditional cue sheet, and written prose describing each turn and the surrounding area. These methods are then supported by a road map.
  • Your personal guides, helping you with support vehicles.  On road support will always be near.  From greeting guests when they arrive, to handling luggage transfers, mechanical issues, etc – our guides assist guests in every way.  They also set you up on your rental bikes, and can help with routing, and any other questions.

What is not included:

  • Transportation to and from the start and finish locations.
  • Bikes, but we have rental bikes available.
  • Travel and Health Insurance.
  • Admission to sightseeing venues, unless explicitly mentioned as included.
