As OBT grows and we expand into new destinations, we are always eager to hear feedback from our early guests. Burgundy was our big addition in 2014. Below is the feedback we received from Bill & Terry Krivan, some of our “repeat offenders”. This Burgundy tour was their third tour with OBT, and they always make the most of their touring experience. (Note the cooking class they added!) Thank you Bill & Terry!

Terry and I just wanted to send a quick note to tell you how much we enjoyed our biking through Burgundy this past June. The countryside is every bit as lovely as we had expected, the routes offered really pleasant riding with excellent variety;

  • Rolling vineyard-covered hills of the “Route des Grands Crus” between Dijon and Beaune, with signs for all of the famous Burgundian wineries and more sampling than we could manage.
  • Modest but steady half-day climb from Beaune toward Vandenesse-en-Auxois, followed by an exhilarating several kilometer downhill swoop to the Canal de Bourgogne where we had a late lunch at Le Bistrot du Port before a mellow ride on to our accommodation.
  • Relaxed cruise along the canal from Vandenesse-en-Auxois to Dijon, watching occasional canal boats gliding by or working through the locks.

The accommodations were lovely, with particular note of Le Cep in Beaune and the most energetic and engaging Marie Pascale at Domaine de Serrigny. And of course, the food and wine of France – can’t get any better than that, in our book. I have countless pictures of lovely (and delicious) food preparations.

As it turned out, we also were able to schedule a day at a cooking school in Beaune at the end of our biking. You might consider adding that possibility to the material you provide to your customers. An American-born mother and daughter team operate “The Cook’s Atelier” in Beaune, with sessions for ten students, on market days only (a visit to the market to buy ingredients for the day’s menu is part of the event). We had a fabulous time – buying at the market, preparing a multi-course lunch, then dining with excellent wine and company.

We do love the self-guided style trips (this was our third with your organization), with flexibility to ride at our own pace, to stop whenever and wherever we care to. The only pressure is to arrive at the evening’s destination by cocktail hour!

I have attached a few pictures (use as you may like) – thank you for a wonderful trip.
